More women and better support

Women in Strategic Decision Making

WiSDM is our flagship program.

It exists to grow the number of women in strategic decision making and provide support to women decision makers.  We do this through community building, sharing experiences, coaching, mentoring, and training for women who aspire to greater impact in strategic decisions.

about the program

WiSDM is on a mission

We are growing the number of women in strategic decision making and providing support to women decision makers.

We know that diversity of opinion is key to achieving great outcomes in decisions that matter. We are committed to having women represented and supported in decision making roles.

We share experiences, build best practice and provide a pathway for women decision-makers of the future.

We identify gaps and obstacles that make it hard for women to participate in strategic decisions, and create momentum around these issues to effect change.

We seek to educate and inspire others to take action, and welcome people of all gender identities in our community.

We do this through community building, sharing experiences, coaching, mentoring, and training for women who aspire to (and are already occupying) roles with responsibility for strategic decisions.

Access to experts and leaders

Our past programs and events have featured senior executives from government and the private sector, as well as parliamentarians and political leaders.

Why do we need WiSDM?

Here are the facts

  •  Decisions that leverage diversity, including gender diversity, deliver better results at least 85 per cent of the time and twice as fast.
  • 40 per cent of women want more involvement in decision making.
  • 5 out of 6 women are more likely to stay in a job where they can contribute to decisions.
  • 80 per cent of people perform better at work when they participate in decision making.
  • 90 per cent of people are more motivated when they have contributed to decisions.
  • Women in predominantly male-dominated workplaces face challenges such as:
    • lack of career development and mentoring.
    • higher stress and anxiety.
    • pervasive stereotypes and beliefs about women’s leadership abilities.

Really great in helping me to recognise my decision making style, positives and pitfalls, and actions I can take to improve my decision making. It provided some great tools and processes to improve decision making that would benefit a lot of people.

tailored wisdm program for your organisation

Unlock the WiSDM in your organisation

What would it mean for the women in your organisation to feel their contribution to decision making was not only valued, but sought after and having a real impact on strategic outcomes?

We know that 85 per cent of people perform better at work when they can participate in decision making, and almost 90 per cent are more motivated when they have contributed to decisions.

Imagine amplifying that increase in performance and motivation across your workforce.

We would love to partner with you to build a tailored 3 to 12 month program that engages and empowers women in your organisation to contribute to decision making.

You will have access to our network of academics, experts, thought leaders, and executive women who will collaborate to design and deliver a program for your organisation that combines:

  • Mentoring and coaching
  • Expert lectures
  • Impactful events
  • Inspiring case studies
  • Practical tools
  • Internal communication and engagement

How will we know it worked?

First and foremost, we will ask you where WiSDM fits in your organisational priorities and what success looks like for you, so that we can measure it.

We will want to understand your gaps and opportunities when it comes to decision making, diversity and inclusion, and performance.  You may have an existing diversity and inclusion plan, or a corporate strategy for closing the gender gap.  We will design the program to help meet these goals while boosting your organisational capability and performance.

Finally, we'd love your senior executive to engage early, to ensure your WiSDM program meets their needs and provides opportunities for them to contribute.

Is WIsdm a good fit for your organisation?

We'd love to work with you to grow and support women decision makers. Tell us a bit about your organisation's culture and commitments, and we will be in touch to discuss whether a tailored WiSDM program can support your goals.

[I enjoyed] the practical and honest advice and personal approach to decision making as each speaker unpacked what drives them. Loved [speaker's] method of taking time to investigate what difficult decisions are hard to make, and appreciated her candid history of dealing with crisis decisions.

Let's make better decisions, together!

Instead of relying on gut instinct or making a snap decision I used the tools and worked through the 1:1 sessions to really understand the decision and all the inputs, who else needed to be involved and to what level, weighting what was more important and stepping out all the options.

Amanda, 2022 WiSDM participant

our founder

Hi, I'm Belinda.

I have spent the last 24+ years observing where and how women are provided the opportunity to participate in decisions that matter to them.  And what I have witnessed, is lacking.

Having built my career and reputation over  many years of helping leaders in large and complex organisations make and communicate decisions, I felt I was in a position to do something about it.

I started WiSDM as a community initiative in 2021 and it has evolved into an offering that is unique in the market and backed by a social theory of change.

I love connecting with individuals and leaders that want to partner to create a better future for women decision makers.  Please connect with me on LinkedIn so we can collaborate!

Decision Revolution is based on Ngunnawal country, which has never been ceded by its traditional owners.  We pay our respects to these traditional owners as well as their elders: past, present, and emerging.

We advocate for the active participation of Indigenous peoples in decision-making matters which affect their rights, their futures, and the broader community.  We support Indigenous peoples’ contribution to decision-making through representatives and means of their choosing, and respect their traditional decision-making structures and processes.  We invite opportunities to learn about the decision-making practices of our First Nations People and welcome these connections.
